The D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 was the largest seaborne invasion in history. Along with the associated airborne operations, it marked the beginning of the liberation of France and western Europe. To honour the service and sacrifice of the D-Day Generation, the Parish Council will be holding a commemoration service tomorrow (6 June) at 10.30 am at the new memorial in Broadwindsor. The names of the fallen from our local communities will be read aloud, children from Broadwindsor School will share their thoughts and a wreath will be placed on behalf of parishioners of the Grouped Parish. At 6.30 pm, the church bells in Broadwindsor will join the nation in Ringing Out for Peace and a little later at 9.15 pm, there will be a reading of The International Tribute and the lighting of the beacon at the Allotments. Please do join us if you can, everyone welcome.
