Ordinary Meetings
The Parish Council meets on the second Monday of each month, excluding the month of August. All meetings commence at 7.30 pm and are usually held at Comrades Hall, Broadwindsor and at least once a year at Blackdown and Drimpton Village Halls. Members of the public and press are very welcome and are encouraged to attend.
Annual General Meeting
The Statutory Annual General Meeting of the Council is held in the month of May but in an election year must be held within fourteen days of the date that the new Council takes office. At this Meeting, the Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected and a general review of the Council’s business, policies and procedures takes place.
Annual Parish Meeting
The Annual Parish Meeting is held between 1 March and 1 June inclusive on a day and at a time determined by the Council. This meeting provides a great opportunity for members of the Parish to come together to celebrate the activities and achievements of the community, find out about the work of the Parish, District and County Councils and ask questions or raise issues of concerns.
Public Participation
Under the Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014, members of the public may now film, photograph and make audio recordings of the proceedings of the formal Council Meeting, though not, under current legislation, of the Public Participation session, as this is not part of the formal agenda of the Meeting. Recording activity should be respectful to the conduct of the Meeting and behaviour that disrupts the Meeting (such as oral commentary) will not be permitted.
Any member of the public shall not speak for more than five minutes. A question asked by a member of the public during Public Participation shall not require a response or debate during the meeting though the Chairman may direct that a written response will be provided subsequent to the meeting.
