Broadwindsor is a vibrant village on the western edge of West Dorset located between the twin peaks of Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Pen and surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is the largest of the Parishes with a community of approximately three hundred households. Broadwindsor boasts a church, village hall, primary school, pub, community shop, post office facilities, playing field, craft centre and village green. It is a busy place to live and offers a host of social activities including WI, Over 60s Club, Cinema, Short Mat Bowls Club, Skittles Group, Brownies and Young Farmers. Broadwindsor is a very proud of its excellent Cricket Club and First Responders. Probably Broadwindsor’s most noted claim to fame is its connection with Charles II who stopped off in the village on his dramatic flight from the Battle of Worcester in 1651.
